About The Artist

My name is Jan Lowe of Victoria Australia, I paint and draw wildlife, and nature, my aim is to convey a story to the viewer. My preference is to work on Scratchboard and use watercolor for the colour, and hot-pressed paper and Claybord with watercolor. I tutor in Scratchboard and wild-life drawings.
I prefer to work from life and spend time with the creature or place, get to know the subject, its unique personality and if it’s a place – get the feel and the mood. It’s important to capture what you feel and give the viewer an experience of what you experienced! However, not always able to paint on site, I will spend a lot of time photographing the subject and use various photographs to capture those unique moments. My images will not be perfect, but they will capture the subject as I saw through my vision and impact.
